Map Changes

The 1.007 Patch adds all the Westwood Map Pack maps, as well as many favourite custom maps. It also puts the map list in order (first by number of players then alphabetically).

More importantly, 1.007 reworks, balances and improves many existing maps.

 

Existing Map Changes

Note that some map changes have been applied to some of the additional EA maps added by the patch (such as Dry Heat and Valley of Gems) - they are not necessarily identical to the Westwood Map Pack or Yuri's Revenge versions (or wherever else they appear).

The tech building restructuring changes are indicated in orange text.

The Alamo: Airfield and bottom-right Derrick fenced. The Alamo itself is sandbagged.

Alaskan Oil Spill: Central 4 Derricks now fenced.

Anytown, Amerika: Top to middle stretches made easier, top Gems harder to protect.

A Path Beyond II: Starting resources balanced, map resources generally increased.

Arctic Circle:Right Outpost made equidistant between start positions. Contested Derricks walled, Outposts and Airfields fenced.

Breakaway: Derrick count slightly reduced, middle reworked slightly for balance. Airfield walled, middle Derricks fenced, outer Derricks walled.

Brink of Disaster: Derrick numbers reduced, Ore fields adjusted to remove some emphasis from middle. Airfields walled, contested Derricks fenced.

Country Swing: Resources balanced between all positions. Bottom-left has a harder stretch to the Gems.

Cold War: Movement bugs fixed, bottom-left start position moved closer to the Ore, several beaches added. Top-middle Gems distributed better. Left now has one less Derrick. Airfield and middle island Derrick fenced.

DC Uprising: Top-left and bottom-right now receive some starting Gems. The Outpost has been moved to the middle of the southern shoreline. Airfield and Outpost fenced.

Deadman's Ridge: Central pinch point width increased to discourage deadlocks; two small land bridges added at the sides; ramp widths increased; tech building numbers reduced and most tech buildings moved; bottom Ore fields reduced. Airfields walled, Derricks fenced.

Deathrap: Tech building numbers reduced. Outer Derricks fenced, central Derricks walled.

Depth Charge: Small island Derricks replaced with Airfields. Small island Airfields and one of each central set of 3 are now fenced.

Dry Heat: Top-left Gem field moved further left, Derrick positions tweaked, bottom-right pathfinding should now be fixed. Derricks fenced.

Dustbowl: Derricks fenced.

Golden State Fwy: Top's central Gem field is now much closer to the top-middle Derrick. Bottom-middle cliff now reachable. Middle (top and bottom) Derricks fenced.

Hammer and Sickle: The bridge repair bug has been fixed. Some start positions now start with a small patch of Gems. Top-left cliff now reachable.

Head for the Hills: Bottom-right cliffing reworked to make it more difficult to pressure the bottom-right base; inaccessible cliffs fixed; stretches to Gems now much more even. All Derricks fenced.

Heartland: It is now impossible for both players to start on the left side of the map. Derricks walled.

Heck Freezes Over: Central Gem field reduced in size, "Lame" starts slightly improved, bottom-left Ore fields reworked. Some pinch-points moved slightly and "cave" cliffs now reachable.

Isle of War: Middle passage widened, small ramps added at the sides. Side ramps fenced and Gems added below them.

Killer Instinct: Initial cliff stretches up to the Airfield now impossible. Airfield walled, island Derricks fenced.

Lake Blitzen: All start positions approximately equal distance from their respective Gem fields. Airfield, mainland Derricks and one Derrick per island are now sandbagged.

Little Big Lake: Top's Gems have been moved down from the cliff.

Loaded Barrel: Tech building numbers greatly reduced. Top-left and top-right tech buildings fenced, Outposts fenced.

Lost Lake: Contested mainland Derricks walled. Island Airfields fenced.

Malibu Cliffs: Starting resources balanced (mainly less accessible Gems made more reachable).

May Day: Pinch points widened to reduce the ability to turtle; an island added in the barely-used east portion of sea to break stalemates; top-left Derricks can no longer be taken out by a single chain reaction explosion; bridge added to the middle-right coastline. Top-left and middle-left Derricks and Airfields sandbagged.

Meat Grinder: Tech building numbers reduced. Airfields walled and middle Derricks fenced.

Montana DMZ: The left side now receives a Derrick on the plateau. It is now possible to stretch to the bottom-right resources from the Airport. Airfield and Derrick fenced.

Mount Olympus: Ore field sizes balanced; 2 Derricks on plateau replaced with an Airfield. Derricks and airfield fenced.

Official Tournament Map A: Derricks fenced.

Official Tournament Map B: Top-left and bottom-right island positions altered to make them more neutral. Remaining Derricks moved closer to their respective bases. Island now have more resources. Island Derricks fenced.

Official Tournament Map: Middle island reworked - bridges now destroyed by default; beaches added; twin Airfields replaced by one Airfiled and one Derrick; more space to place Refineries; pinch-points widened. All tech buildings fenced.

Paris Revisited: The bottom-left Derrick has a small pile of Gems near it. The bottom-right Ore field has been moved further north. Bottom start positions has a tiny pile of Gems. Small amount of Ore added to top positions. Right Derricks walled, left Derricks sandbagged.

Pinch Point: Left now receives two Ore fields, just like right. Small quantities of Gems added to start positions. Top and bottom middle ramps made more equal.

Rockets Red Glare: Middle Hospital removed. Middle Airfield walled.

Roundhouse Kick: Derrick numbers reduced (only one per island, down from two). Neutral Flak Cannon emplacement added in the centre to reduce the dominance of air units on this map (particularly V3s, Kirovs and Black Eagles). It is no longer possible to build any structures on the central cliff area. All mainland Derricks fenced; 2 island Derricks unfenced, 2 fenced.

Shrapnel Mountain: The central "mountain" is now defended by a set of neutral Pillboxes and sandbags; Outposts removed; one Derrick and some Gems added to top-left. All undefended Derricks fenced.

Snow Valley: Movement bugs fixed, some ramps added to the inaccessible cliff areas.

South Pacific: The "walk on water" bugs have been removed. Top-right middle stretch made easier, top-right Gems moved north. Airfields walled, Derricks fenced.

Sovereign Land: Inner Derrick positions moved to either side of the central village; cliff ramp sizes increased; piles of gems added to the hills around the start areas; a large central island added; a walled field of Gems added to the central village. Inner Derricks walled.

Stormy Weather: Outpost and Derricks fenced.

Tanya's Training Grounds: Derrick numbers reduced (each former pair now consists of one Derrick); central Airforce Command replaced with a Civilian Airport; Ore field sizes balanced.Middle (left and right). Contested Derricks fenced, upper-level Derricks sandbagged.

Tsunami: Derrick positions balanced.

Valley of Gems: Middle area made more interesting. Walls added around all Derricks.

Wasteland: Derricks fenced.

Yuri's Plot: Middle island reworked, now has just an Airfield. All tech buildings fenced.

Yin Yang: All tech buildings fenced.

The 1.007 Patch adds the following custom maps to the game: Blood Feud, Coldest Peak, Dune Patrol, Dry Heat, Heck Top Half, Heck Bottom Half, Heck Left Side, Heck Right Side, Heck No Lames, Offense Defense, Wasteland, Yin Yang.
