I'm pretty excited. Doom 1 was the first PC game I ever played. Prolly have to get the demo first though to see how it plays on my pc

No game is scarier than the original doom, simply because the graphics FELT real. Nowadays, they are more detailed, and less obvious that it's a game, except that it's TOO colorful. Not enough of the faded colors. Games nowadays always look like a newly painted car with zero mistakes.

Erm doom wasn't scary at all :S .. Was it supposed to be?? I thought it was just supposed to be a mindless shooter.. Maybe the reason you thought it was scary is that you were a little kid :P .. Games like Silent hill, eternal darkness and resident evil etc are scary :P ..

I played those games as well, but it still didn't feel quite as scary. True, I was a kid, but doom really felt like a desperate fight. I thought that the first resident evil was close, but doom would have been scarier if it had an improved creature graphics.

Doom wasn't all dark. It had windows you could see outside, it didn't feel like repeated levels always at night and extremely dark.

chrono got me a copy, I did a good deal of it tonight. cool game, but damn you need a awesome comp to run it well, especially at something higher than the lowest settings. I just got the chainsaw :D

ok I beat it just now.

Overall, it was a tight game, but I had some problems with it. The whole game is way too dark (even with the brightness on max), and sometimes it got pretty monotonous. and also the requirements are way too high.

I have a pentium 4 2.5 ghz 512 RAM and I had to run it on it's lowest possible settings without turning off realtime lighting and bump mapping. I did however, turn off shadows, which looked really cool, but weren't contributing too much.

The weaponry was cool for the most part, but nothing too impressive.
