How do you limit the speed of your cd-rom? Can't install YR cause the cd-rom might eat it:/...

What do you mean it broke? The CD actually broke or did it just not work?

The disk got chopped up somehow. I'm pretty sure it's related to high cd rom speeds.. Happens a lot with WW's crappy cds.

Usually underspec CD's and/or underspec drives => cracked CD's although I've never had it happen to me :chinese:. Anyways, unless you want to take your chances with sys32\drivers\cdrom.sys and redbook.sys, I'm pretty sure you can't do anything about it. Messing with your BIOS, or IDE channel properties from the Device Manager probly won't help either.

Take a chance and make an image with CloneCD or something. If you don't want to put anything in your drive, then just change it; I don't see what the point of having a CD drive is if you can't use it :\. And like I said, I've never had probs with my YR CD...

Yeah, my 52x burner never chopped up either of my CD's.

Hmms, never had any problems with the drive except it chopped up my yr disk the second I put it in.. I know ppl in RL who had it happen, and ppl often post about it.. Ppl always said it was related to high cd-rom speeds, and I never had any problems with my old 32x cd-rom.. The second I put it in my brother's 52x cd-rom, it was chopped up...

Guess I'll just have risk it:/.. Gonna crack it afterwards anyways..

Need help with something else, subtitles on movies... Before I reformatted, I'd just put the subtitle file in the same directory as the movie, and it'd work.. I had a lot of shit installed though, and I don't know what I need.. Any ideas?
