Ok first off let me say this is NOT a sequel or expansion for empire earth/AOE/AOM/RON or any other boring POS you might think it is related too :silly:
I just got this game (it came out last week), and I have been playing it non-stop. It is fantastic. It is an RTS that covers from the medieval age to WWII. It has 5 epochs (medieval age, gunpowder age, imperial age, WWI, WWII). It is totally addicting and masterfully created. Game last about 20 minutes, so it is not as fast as ra2. But it is not slow paced. There is always shit happening, i never feel like it is slow. There are 9 nations total. 4 for the pre-modern times (medieavl-imperial) and 5 for the WW eras.
Anyways has anyone heard about it or plan to get it? I wouldnt ind seeing some familar faces there :D

I got it a few days ago but haven't been playing much. Only played two automatch games and got infantry rushed both times :(, though maybe USA wasn't the best choice of country for a newb like me....
Hopefully if I play craploads of quickmatch games I'll get better. :paranoid:
Btw, what settings do you play on? I'm too newb to make any educated choices on sides, but Medieval and Plains seem to be the favoured settings from what I've seen + I know Korea is popular.

Korea is the most popular. I am too newb to know if they are overpowered or not, but if they are, the game has only been out a week, so I am sure they will patch it once they see what balance issues there are.
As for settings, i prefer plains (as almost everyone does), WWI, USA. I choose Koreea as my medieval setting just so when i get to WWI i can pick USA. I really like the USA. The ranger owns battles, and the doughboys kick ass. I always do an infantry rush if it is a WWI starting game. The USA doughboys have the charge ability which seriously kicks ass. Unless you are against french because they can conscipt their citizens.
Anyways, you know that settings dont make a huge difference right? Map and starting age preferences do not have to match. I always put my preference on WWI, but i often get stuck on medieval. So you gotta learn both.
The one game setting that isn't negotiable is game type. That has to match exactly with your opponent. I always choose action because i come from a RA2 background. I prefer the fast pace. Empire builder is for people who want to take their time and build a wall from one corner of the map to the other and place gaurd towers every 5 feet along it and then they turtle and go eat dinner and have some sex and then come back to find out they won cause their enemy didnt want to bother.

Yeah, I'm going to learn one country from Med & one from WWI for quickmatch, but I did forget that the map type could change.
I wouldn't even dream of playing Empire Builder mode. :O
