I was bored the other day and decided to fire up descent, a classic game with a revolutionary engine.

If you've never played it's definently worth it. Basically, you're a flying space craft of sorts, but the entire game takes place underground. You go through mines destroying bots and the objective is always to take out the reactor at the end of the level and escape.

Very good game, and I'm not talking about the shareware 7 level version, I mean the badass full version which is almost 30 levels.

It's like an FPS with lil spacecrafts in rooms where you could just as easily expect ut2k3 troops to be runnin and gunnin eachother down. You also had to be an octopus to be able to play it decently (maneuver around fast, dodge shots and kill enemies that is); that game had like 12 ways to move the ship around!

But yes it was cool. Tried to play it in ma new 2,7 gig P4 when I got it, but I couldn't slow it down, so no chance playing it ever again I think :(...

yeah a damn good game, but like prok says it was tough to control. it was also very disorientating, at times you could end up upside down without noticing it.

I had the controls so that a,s,d, abd w turned left, right, up, and down. The numpad's directions I put to move yourself forward backwards and sideways. numpad 9 and 3 were to move up and down, numpad 0 was fire gun, and the enter on the right or spacebar was missile. Shift right and left barrel rolled. This setup gives you relatively good control over yourself.
