haha...i could only understand like 6 and half words but I just kept clicking things and somehow I downloaded this 50 megabyte file. I put this on and it starts off by asking if there is gonna be and support for the game and like the camera guy just starts cracking up. And also when whoever the guy is who works at westwood answers him by saying yeh theres always a plan for support, the camera guy just starts laughing again. I got to the ladder part and he said theres gonna be an official one, so that should be pretty nice. The movie goes 28 minutes and im only done with six minutes. Henl...is there any other good things in that movies, cause I dont feel like watching the rest because this translator guy is annoying as hell. He has like zero memory and I dont know german or whatever it is, but it sounds like he is making half of the stuff hes saying up.

Yeh...just watch the first 10 minutes of it and then turn it off. Its tough to understand after the first 10 minutes because the people who are asking questions are trying to speak english, but no they just cant. I think it talks about linux and a bunch of garbage after that.

and hey, we germans cant speak english well, of course, maybe coz we are germans? ;)
anyway i was there too, he said that EA will have a official ladder, but its a dumb ladder, like henl said, not like ra2/yr, 3 pts per win, loss nothing (means for 2000 pts badge u have to play 667 games rofl)
and germany will have a own ladder, which will be supported by EA germany (but i dont think that ladder will be better, but weŽll see)
he said the ladder kit will be only for windows servers (maybe linux later too, but not at start)
maybe clan support like in ra2/yr will come later (personally i dont think so)
u cant switch fow on/off, and u will always be able to build as many sw as u want (they wont change it)

ahit, you can also build infinite black markets\hackers\supply depos meaning turtleing is *unbeatable*. Mass stinger sites and scud launchers, some tunnels, mass black markets and scud storms. Win. Allowing players to build derricks is damn stupid. At least put a limit on 3 supply depos\markets\12 hackers so that not building pure defence over half the map gives you some kind of advantage. RTS games should make you fight for resources, this one doesn't.

with ladder rules like this noone will build derricks, everyone will try a stupid rush or anything like that, if it fails he quit coz u loose time and instead of playing a long game against an opponent to get 3 pts its better to play 3-4 games and kill your opponent fast, and if rush fails u quit, u cant loose anything

the only way to kill an opponent which is turtleing is to use ur general attacks to find a way into his base (this artillerie things)

the game isnt a rts to play for rank or ladder, its only a newb game to have some fun, no match to ra2/yr
so iŽll play still more yr than any other game...
i think units like black lotus are unbalanced too, an invisible yuri lol
the only real good thing that has changed is graphic lol

Jarmen Kell is better than lotus imo, I'm prolly wrong though..

Graphics is damn nice, but the requirements are way too high, and the game slows to a crawl no matter what comp you've got when supers are launched.. Also, infantry looks retarded:p

You also get 1 point per hour you play the game.. I get ur point though, since you can easily play 10+ games in 1 hour..

When I played the game yesterday though, I couldn't get a damn match:S. Qm'ed for like 10 minutes before it matched me with someone(I had no filters on as well) and 19\20 tries it didn't connect:/

Jarmen Kell is good, but not better than lotus. The thing costs 1500...by the time you have the technology to get to him, (if ur talking about china vs gla) then the person will have some migs patroling the base. Once he shoots the person controlling the tank, he will get shot by migs and you can reoccupy the vehicle for 300 dollars with an infantry. If your talking about tank battles, well when i play against gla I always throw a few infantry in there anyways, so if he shoots a tank you can just regain it. Also, when capturing buildings it will cost you 1500 per building because once you put him in the building he is gone for good. Lotus its 1500 to make her and then you can capture as many buildings as you want. IMO anyways lotus=Jarman Kell.

As far as system requirements, what they tell you is garbage. Ive played against 3 people so far who have far below the 800mhz, and its not bad at all. I think murlaw here has below the requirements too or are very near the minimum requirements so that makes it 4. We had like a 3 hour game last night and it ran pretty good.

Dont know whats wrong with your QM, but the first night when there was a total of 15 people online and no one had the game yet I got 2 quickmatches right away. Although I do hate the part where you have to have 800x600 resolution.

Ladder is sooooo bad its not even funny, but I will be playing at www.generalsladder.com and not the official. Maybe a bunch of clans will have a ladder and they can tweak the point system and there will be no noob bashing.

The whole gamespy and online interface is terrible also, but these are things that can be fixed. The communicator is very tough to work with. Joining a game is difficult too.

As far as balance issues, it is slightly unbalanced but in my opinion it is by far better than when YR came out. EA-P will patch it for a couple of months if this game sells and some of the things can be fixed.

As far as an online map hack, henl you have been playing YR for over a year now and it has had map hacks within the first month as well. You finished 2nd last month and I wouldnt doubt that a quarter of your games there was some form of cheating going on. In generals there is gonna be far fewer cheaters, because less programs can do it. Also it is going to be difficult to advertise it. Its expected and its something that almost cant be avoided.

I think the game is fun overall and I will be playing it for quite some time. Although ive heard some return it, alot more than I expected bought it. The fact that some people are moving over makes the game better in my mind. As far as Warcraft 3, no doubt in anyone minds that blizzard is a better company and perfects there games. But I have played starcraft and warcraft 3 and for some reason I just find the C&C games more fun. Westwood and EA-P are terrible companies but I just like their games and how there fun for a while regardless of cheaters or not. Warcraft 3 has by far more players playing than any C&C game and I like how the C&C games have less players playing. You know all of the clans and you get to know most of the people. Alot of people come to these boards from other clans because they know who BA is and they know they have been around for a while. I kinda like that atmosphere better than one where there are 5,000,000,000 people playing on at the same time and only a few you can recognize.

Im keeping the game and im gonna have some fun with it.

The difference is that map hack=instant win in a fog of war game(except if the opponent is usa, in which case he has half a map hack already).

If you're Gla you can win a lot by just going mass stinger sites, scuds and black markets. Just build over the whole map:p.

I definitely see what your saying now about the map hack...never thought about it like that. But anyways it should at least be more obvious now. And if you need to map hack as USA, you are terrible anyways.

err...I dont really agree w/ the second part of your post. Best unit in the game IMO=Nuke tank for china. It owns tanks so badly against tanks when there not moving and its got such range for building its unbelievable. I think Nuke tank has more range than scuds. Pretty weak I think as well. Move your tanks back away from scuds range. Put migs over them and when it moves forward away from a stinger site then just use migs to shoot it because I think its got little armor. Either that or just sacrafice a mig to kill the scud launcher and kill the stinger site with tanks, or whatever you have. If you got nuke cannons then just kill it with them. Black markets are 2000, and the money you get back, unless its a really really long game doesnt add up. If you put units in the black market then just get something that has long range to take it out. If your gonna do this your gonna be a defense person with GLA, and gla is more of a rushing country in my opinion.

Lol, it's not as easy as you describe.. No, nuke cannons won't get through easily.. Scuds might be better than you think, and also, Jarmen Kell is an added distraction\problem.. Black markets gain back their cost in a few minutes!!!
