Hi BA peeps
Thought I would post this here as you guys are a well established fair clan to see if you can help.
I would like to get some guidelines on whether free wins should be given in certain situations or not.
Currently we would always give a free win if we were in a game that the opponents were CLEARLY winning and then someone on our side accidentally disconnects, crashes or whatever and the game ends up in a wash. But there are some situations that are not so clear cut and always seem to cause arguments so I just wanted to know whether ppl would give a free win, rematch or do nothing in the following situations that have cropped up over the past few months. This is not about games that involved cheating this is games that get accidentally messed up by dcs or WW.

1)The game is VERY BALANCED and someone on your side gets accidentally disconnected.
What would you do if :
a) The points change was +0 on both sides.
b) The other side lost points and your side gained +0
c) Your side gained points and the other side gained +0
d) Your side gained points and the other side lost points.

2) You WERE WINNING the game and someone on your side gets accidentally disconnected.
a) The points change was +0 on both sides.
b) The other side lost points and your side gained +0
c) Your side gained points and the other side gained +0
d) Your side gained points and the other side lost points

3) Your opponents were winning the game and THEY accidentally disconnect/crash causing it to wash.
What would you do if
a) the points change was +0 on both sides
b) The other side lost points and your side gained +0
c) Your side gained points, the opponents gained +0
d) Your side gained points and the opponents lost points.

4) If you offer someone a free win do you think it is reasonable to put a time limit on it so that the points for either side has not changed too much since the incident happened. Like they have to claim it within 2 days or they don’t get it.

Thx

I think to end all arguments, you should make it a big "fuck you" to people who d/c. I mean it's common knowledge, and a universal rule of thumb: if your connection eats shit, you shouldn't bother playing in ranked games online.

I think if it's even, and someone d/c's, tough luck but the team that stays connected should win, at least if they can still beat the remaining guy.

For the second one, if you're winning and your m8 d/c's, again tough shit. I know me personally, peeps in my clan wouldn't play CMs if their connection was shitting or they were playing on a shitty comp at the time.

For third one, again I say tough shit to the d/cer. One of the basic principles of the game is to stay online. If you are on an unstable connection (such as a 56k with a phone line that will d/c if you get an incoming call) you are taking the risk by playing online. If you win great, if you d/c, too bad for you.

Also I think this method works because then you will never have to deal with the "How do you know you were winning, we still had a chance" bullshit. In WC3, if you d/c you lose. Simple as that. Works pretty well I think.

As for giving wins, I think in this situation that obviously no one is required to give a win, but I suppose the person offering to give the win can set a time to give the win.

some people should have read my post, and saw the word "bumping". It implies that this is an old thread that was bumped :p

well apparantely it's redundant now, but i agree with czigga: don't play if your connection sucks.

Ok i think the whole 'dont play if ur connection sucks' idea is really unfair. I used to have 56K and i was addicted to ra2. I loved to game soo much but it pissed me off when i got DC'd in the middle of a good game especially a tornament game. But i wasn't gonna stop playin till i got my DSL 7 months ago.

BTW it depends how much u were winning buy. If u droned someones tank or even their war miner - no free win. If you destroyed all of their base accept their powerplant and they have no units then give em a free win.

But it's just so hard to determine this stuff even with lots of screenies. Battles can bend either way. I'm sure we've all lost games where we were winning big time but then majorly screwed up and lost at least a couple times. I sure have. And against some soviet players when i'm allied i've beaten say 8 rhinos with 9 grizzlies with the help of a few GIs before.

I had a game like that last week on little big lake actually. It was one of the best i had in a long time. He was soviets i was allies...but 4 minutes into the game i noticed it was meatgrinder :O I was just a little pissed but i ended up winning :) Ohh what a game it was. First one i had played in a few weeks. Anyway, that's all i have to say. BTW don, what's ur msn??

Lmao @ my stupid ass. Well the advice might have been helpful a year and a half ago. :p

And AJ I had 56k also back in the day. But if I got dc too bad for me, that's just how it goes. You said yourself how it's impossible to determine who was winning at any given point. So simplest and least controversial and conflict-creating way is to have a hardline d/c = loss rule.
